I was born and raised on the Connecticut shoreline where I lived until my late teens when I moved to California.  Most recently I moved to Cape Cod, MA from Northwestern Connecticut in 2012, upon my retirement from service to the State of Connecticut, fulfilling a long-time dream for myself and my spouse to return to the water.

A combination of education, life experience and the support of various circles of women have all served to guide my journey and to ultimately prepare me for ministry.  I married right out of high school and became a parent as a young woman.  It was a difficult and sometimes violent relationship that I left seeking safety for myself and my daughter with very few resources.  I sometimes say that I have come the long way ‘round, but I find the tools I have gathered to be invaluable and can’t say that I would change much of it given the outcome.  I met and married my spouse 29 years ago; a true life partner whose dedication and sense of humor are a source of invaluable support.

I made a career with the State of Connecticut in various entry level roles until I found myself working with incarcerated persons, female and male, from all backgrounds and circumstances, and eventually with the formerly incarcerated toward personal empowerment and reintegration into family and community life.  For several years my work involved making the possibility of moving to one’s home state during this process a reality through my role in managing the Interstate Compact Unit of the agency.  I also served as the agency’s Training Coordinator for a period of several years.

Recognizing a passion for working with people in transition, I pursued a degree in Human Services early on which was a steppingstone to my career path.  Later, wanting to further my education, I joined an accelerated program at the University of Hartford; receiving a BA in Women’s Studies in 2000.  It was at this time that I made the transition to working in a community setting, using my accumulated knowledge to focus on programming specifically designed for women.  Here I came to see my work as more of a vocation and chose a seminary experience in order to understand this sense more deeply.  I received a Master of Arts in Spirituality from Hartford Seminary in 2009 and went on to pursue a Master of Divinity from Andover Newton Theological School, which I completed in 2014.   I was granted Preliminary Fellowship through the Unitarian Universalist Association and ordained into ministry on December 6, 2015 at my internship church, The First Parish of Watertown, Unitarian Universalist in Watertown, MA.

It has been my education and the relationships I have developed through shared life stories wherein a realization of my own worth has developed and I have sought to engage others in a process where they are able to see themselves in a new light as a result.  I gravitated to community ministry in 2015, responding to what was my first passion as I took up the call to ministry.  My concept of the divine is alive and active in our world; evidenced in our relationships and full of possibility.   It was my privilege to serve with a local nonprofit, WE CAN – Women’s Empowerment through Cape Area Networking for five years where I witnessed first-hand the value of an organization dedicated to providing grounding and resources for women on Cape Cod.  It is the kind of agency I wish was available to me so many years ago.  As Program Manager for WE CAN’s PathMakers Mentoring Program, I provided a safe environment for women to discover their deepest selves, define their goals and move toward a place of continued thriving.  I worked to foster connections between this ministry setting and my affiliate congregation at the time, First Parish Brewster, Unitarian Universalist, whose strong justice focus drew me to them when I arrived on Cape Cod.

In July of 2020, after an initial sabbatical contract with the Unitarian Universalist Meeting House of Chatham, MA I began a contract ministry there. In this shared ministry context, we navigated the COVID19 pandemic together, taking time in this liminal space to discern hopes for the future, to learn and to grow. After a fruitful four+ years I am embarking more fully of the foci of Caim Ministries, offering spiritual companionship, end of life doula services, Reiki sessions, rites of passage, pulpit supply and rituals.

I can be found gardening, cycling, walking the beach and trails with my spouse and our rescue dog, Emma, or curled up with a good book when not working  I have a passion for good food and quiet times that supply balance to a busy life.
